We're Girls Who LEAD!
A legacy of empowerment…Girls Who Lead mentoring program began in 2017 after the development of the Limitless Leaders leadership conference for girls in 2016. Limitless Leaders was rebranded to be the Annual Girls Who Lead Conference in 2019 to fulfill a mission to “develop leadership and promote self-esteem in girls”. Through the many programs that GWL has offered over the years, we were have helped hundreds of girls become the best versions of themselves.
Girls Who Lead (GWL) is a group of girls from elementary, middle and high schools all across Fayette County and surrounding counties. Participants in the program have notable recognition for their leadership abilities from teachers, community leaders, and others. High School girls complete a comprehensive project that provides them with the knowledge, skills and resources to apply to college and scholarships. KAPAAW Incorporated members who are trained mentor advisors facilitate meetings and make sure girls have fun while becoming Lexington’s youngest change agents.
Through the months of August to April, our students lead and attend monthly sessions to develop their leadership skills. Each month there is a different focus area, allowing participants to focus on certain aspects of leadership individually, so they can broaden their knowledge of current events and women's issues. GWL hosts community service activities, college tours and other bonding activities throughout the year to allowing girls to build strong relationships with one another so they can work together and better their community.
